Have you ever been to the doctor’s and they diagnosed you before asking about your symptoms? Have you ever been to the dentist and they pulled a tooth before taking x-rays? Have you ever had a waiter bring out your meal before taking your order?

If you answered “No” then you are obviously visiting the right doctors, dentists, and restaurants. Before they make assumptions about your needs and wants they ask questions. The reason they ask questions is because they need to know exactly what they need to do in order to help. The same applies to sales. We must ask questions in order to truly understand a prospects needs and wants. If you make assumptions without gathering facts the response can be as painful as a dentist pulling the wrong tooth.

Don’t be DR. Assumption and cause unnecessary pain. Ask questions so that you truly understand how you can be of help to the prospect. They will love that you care enough to ask.

A person’s character is defined by their life experiences. There are people who have experienced difficult times in their life yet they find a way to make a positive impact for others. The one thing they have in common is an innate ability to be persistent and not give up. I know a family that had a lost a child to cancer. I couldn’t imagine going through what they endured but I’m happy to see how they funneled their grief. They started “The Janie Sims Children’s Foundation” which helps children with cancer and their families. They provide aid, comfort, educate, and recreational experiences to these children and their families. They are committed to supporting and funding research toward a cure for pediatric cancer. We all experience difficult times in our life but it’s up to us how to react.
